A Case of Mesonephric Duct Remnant of the Uterine Cervix Showing Abnormal Cervical Cytology

Abstract

|
The mesonephron is regressed and the uterus is formed by fusion of the Mullerian ducts by the 8th gestational weeks. The mesonephric ducts are occasionally involved in the lower corpus and cervix of the uterus. Mesonephric duct remnants in the
uterine
cervix is an unusual conditionthat is often misdiagnosed as adenocarcinoma.
Mesonephric hyperplasia dose not appear to require therapy, even if it is found at the resection margin of a conization of hyterectomy specimen. It is important to distinguish benignn mesonephric lesion from malignancy, to avoid overtreatment.
